The Lived Experience of Change
Guy Sapirstein, PhD is a licensed clinical psychologist with nearly three decades of experience at the intersection of depth psychology, affect theory, trauma, and experiential healing. Doctorate from University of Connecticut (1995), in private practice since 1996. His landmark meta-analysis with Irving Kirsch on antidepressant placebo effects generated significant scientific discussion about how change occurs.
With deep roots in trauma treatment, Guy supervised clinicians at The Trauma Center in Brookline, MA. His work has expanded to include psychedelic preparation and integration, utilizing his original framework: Dynamic Developmental Integration (DDI). DDI integrates regulatory, relational, structural, and existential dimensions of experience—offering depth of understanding and precision of clinical direction.
The Central Question
What creates durable change—and what only creates the appearance of it? Most people already understand their story. Insight is necessary—but not sufficient—for transformation. My mission is to bridge that gap.
